Same, Same but Different Theatre emerged from the need for high quality storytelling promoting the multi-culture and diverse nature of our modern society. Maria Coelho P.G.C.E is the creator of this company. As a person of mixed race from an Asian background she perceived the need and aim to develop and deliver a wide range of both story telling shows and workshops. She is a Drama Specialist offering a range of Storytelling, Puppetry and Drama Workshops. Currently, she is touring with “An Epic Indian Adventure”. The show utilises interactive storytelling and traditional Rajasthan puppets to bring knowledge to life in an accessible format. It is suitable for schools, festivals, libraries and other multi-cultural events. Maria is an experienced teacher who has worked with the elderly, disabled children and adults. Her show can be adapted according to the needs, ages and abilities of any individual group. In addition, Maria is happy to deliver workshops extending the performance in a variety of formats from Art to Drama.

For our Fusion Festival we hope that she will be able to work with Holy Family Primary school demonstrating her performance techniques and teaching them to the pupils. They in turn will use these techniques to create and perform their own stories based on their own identity and culture.
